My husband, Ray, drew my niece's name for Christmas this year. He jokingly stated that he should buy her some candy corn because she had made comments on Facebook about making turkeys with her two children, Abby and Jackson, for Thanksgiving. It looked like a fun and simple activity, using cinnamon rolls for the body and crisp bacon for the tail feathers. I think the candy corn was supposed to be for the head. Leeanne made comments about how she hated candy corn. One of her friends was trying the same activity and couldn't find candy corn. They had quite a conversation about candy corn...both stating their intense dislike for it.
This is what the Oreo Turkey was supposed to look like. I don't have a picture of the one that Linda made. |
At the same time, my sister was trying an activity making turkeys with Oreos and having candy corn as the tail feathers. She later decided she should have used the Double Stuff Oreos because some of her turkeys ended up with cracked bodies, slumping over the Reeses cup with candy corn feathers sticking out at strange angles. This activity was also done with Abby and Jackson.
So...here it is: The Candy Corn Country Christmas Cottage! Step by step instructions with pictures.
Here is what you need to build your cottage. |
I am not sure Leeanne will make this cottage with Abby and Jackson for Christmas next year, but I am sure the children would have so much fun. So...what do you think? Is there a site similar to Pinterest that accepts only true art? If so, let me know so that I can add it. I am sure that Rae was giving me pointers throughout the process of building this cottage....and we were both having a good laugh. I sure miss you, Rae.
My wish for now, is that 2015 brings a little more Peace, Love and Joy to all of us in the world. Wouldn't that be great!
