Gentle Deer...Half-Rack

It is morning.  I have fed and watered the birds and little Monk (the feral cat).  I have already packed for our short trip to Chicago.  It is so nice...being retired and able to take off with out a lot of plans.  The cat nanny will be caring for Nimbus.  She will feed the birds and Monk too.

I look up and see a deer in our yard...he seems to be looking at me but I don't know if he can see through the window.  I speak to him..."Please, don't eat all of the bird seed.  Please, don't go out into the road."

I was able to grab my camera and take a few pictures.  Half-Rack seemed to be posing for me.  Yes, I named him...and these pictures will explain the name.

I tell myself to check the Animal Medicine Cards and read Deer's message.

                                                                     Deer
                                                    "Be gentle with yourself
                                                        and offer kindness
                                                        to all living things."
(Medicine Cards Just for Today.  James Sams & David Carson published by Bear & Co.)

Such a good message.  Thank you Half-Rack for being part of my day.

How do you like my left side?

Oh, but my right side is the best.

  1. What beautiful scenery. I live in a development so all I see from my back yard is other houses. The deer is beautiful. So glad to see you here blogging. So many deserted blogs these days. Thanks for letting me visit.

  2. Beautiful. Nature often seems to make us stop and enjoy when we most need it.

  3. One of the perks of retirement is being to pick up and take off when the weather is nice and you just feel like going somewhere. Kathy and I do that often. Most of our snow is gone now, so when I look out the back window I just see brown spots with the hope of green to come.

  4. Great photos. I love that you always name your new friends and that your names are perfect. Half Rack is gorgeous. That last photo looks like he's soaking up the sun. I wonder if he's posing for you.
